This is not what anyone wants to hear but it is the reality! We do not need to question if trials are coming, we need to ask ourselves if we are ready for them when they do!
In order to answer yes to that question we need to have a plan. For way too long, I was naive enough to believe that if I was a strong enough Christian and had a close, personal relationship with Christ that would be good enough to face difficult situations. I could not have been more wrong. I am sad to admit that it has taken me far too long to realize that I need a fully developed plan for when trials come my way. I am going to share my plan with you in hopes that it may help you to be better prepared for the tough times ahead.
I am a helper and a fixer by nature. So, when faced with a trial my first reaction is to jump in guns ablaze and tackle the problem. This has led me down the wrong path pretty much every time.
I have decided when faced with a difficult situation, I am going to press pause instead. By pressing pause I am allowing my brain to catch up with my emotions. It is also allowing my brain to process the information from a more logical perspective.
Next, I will pray for guidance and wisdom for the situation. James 1:5 assures us that all we have to do to receive wisdom is to simply ask for it and believe that God can and will give it to us. There are so many reasons we fail to do this! We may feel our situation is too small for God to pay attention to, we may not want what we think His answer will be,
Then I will process through the situation in search for peace and calm understanding of what He would have me do in the situation.
Lastly, I will proceed with caution.
As we continue to study the book of James, I will be referring back to this plan. We will look at ways to use it and apply the action steps to grow in our relationship with Him, fellow believers, and those who seem to be the root of our trials.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of wisdom being given liberally without reproach simply as a result of us asking You. Lord, I know that trials are coming and I want to be ready for them. I pray that I allow You to direct my steps and that You will be glorified in the situation.
Deeper Dive: Take a few moments to seek God’s voice in the area you need to hear from Him the most. Decide what you need to do to be prepared for the next trial that is headed your way.
