Using Our Trials To Grow Our Faith Day 4

As you can see, it is day four of this devotional and we are still on verses two and three. That is how good the book of James truly is. Each time I read it I discover more of God’s truths and I find great comfort in it.

We know that it is not a matter of if but when trials are to come and we know that how we consider trials is critical, now let’s tackle the faith aspect of them.

Since the entry of evil in the garden of Eden, trials and temptations have become inevitable. We can’t control what trials or temptations come our way but we can control our reaction to them and how we choose to frame them. We can frame them as learning experiences or we can frame ourselves as victims. Seeing them as learning experiences helps us to move toward a deeper faith and the ability to persevere through the hardest of circumstances.

Jesus was without sin and yet He faced more trials than we could think possible during His earthly life. I could provide a long list of examples but ultimately we only need to look at His death on the cross. He did nothing to deserve the pain and suffering that was inflicted upon Him but He chose to face it for us! I have been through a great deal in my life but I cannot compare any of it to the death my Lord and Savior endured.

Do you have faith in God the Father? Do you trust Him to take care of you and to carry you through any trial?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my past, present, and future sins. I do not deserve Your grace and mercy but I thank You for it. I pray that I learn to have faith in knowing that You will turn all that is meant for evil to the good for me as I love You. Help me to cling to that believe no matter how rough my journey becomes from time to time. I pray that I develop the perseverance needed to glorify you in all circumstances.

Deeper Dive: How do you frame trials and temptations? Do you play the victim or victor?

I encourage you to decide right now how you will deal with future trials. Join me in memorizing the above verses to use in the future to help frame trials and temptations that are undoubtedly coming.
